True North has been shortlisted for ‘Best Investor or Community Relations Campaign’ in the 2019 Mumbrella CommsCon Awards for our work on the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park Media Industry Guidelines.
The CommsCon awards are hailed as the most prestigious PR and communication awards in Australia and New Zealand. The awards showcase the best projects across a range of industries and categories including social media, technology, corporate social responsibility and pro bono campaigns.
Making the shortlist is wonderful recognition of the project which spanned across two years and utilised a range of services including community and stakeholder consultation, strategic communication, writing and workshop facilitation.
“Working on this project to develop guidelines that are acceptable to the land’s traditional owners while meeting the needs of the media and tourism industries was in itself very rewarding,” Managing Director Elena Madden said.
“The project involved consulting with 18 key stakeholder groups across more than 60 meetings and four workshops to understand the values and needs of each group to inform the guidelines, so to be shortlisted for this award is further acknowledgement that we are very proud of.”
The Media Industry Guidelines are in place to help photographers, filmmakers, media and the tourism industry work on and use images of the park for commercial purposes while balancing the responsibility of Anangu traditional owners over their land and respect for Tjukurpa (cultural law, knowledge and values). The new guidelines have been approved for release in 2019.
The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on March 28 in Sydney.
